Do I need to keep my estate planning binder and where should I store it?

In the age of digital copies backed up onto our hard drive and on MyCase, this is not as important as it once was. However, it is important from the standpoint of having it in a prominent place in your home, so in case something happens to you, it can be easily found.

The binder is like a map. It might contain our card, some basic instructions, or handwritten letters. I would recommend keeping it somewhere where people can find it. A good place would be on a bookshelf and then let the kids know where it is. Another good option is putting it in a safe and if it ever happened to go up in flames then you still have the digital versions, which are just as good.
