What’s the point of a living trust if there’s just going to be problems?

Many hear of stories where their friends made a trust and their kids fought anyway. But the thing with trust is it will always keep you out of probate court if it’s done correctly. That’s the main reason it’s done is to make sure that it’ll carry out your wishes with regard to your younger beneficiaries.

But you can’t stop somebody from making a bad decision. When that happens it usually ends up in a conflict.

The most important thing is to pick the right trustee. Choose somebody that can be a peacemaker and make good decisions.

But to not have a trust just because there might be a conflict is just silly.
